Celebrating Art and Community: The Spectacle of the Y Bridge Art Festival
The Y Bridge Art Festival has firmly established itself as a cornerstone of cultural expression in Zanesville, now proudly celebrating its 14th annual event. The festival transformed the downtown area into a vibrant tapestry of creativity, community, and culinary delight over the weekend, drawing both locals and visitors eager to experience the rich artistic offerings of the region.
A Gathering of Creative Minds
Co-chaired by Ron Cole and Mark Goodall, this year’s festival showcased an impressive array of artisans from Muskingum County and beyond. Tents dotted the streets outside the Muskingum County Visitors Center, creating an enchanting marketplace filled with treasures ranging from exquisite handmade jewelry to unique paintings and innovative metal sculptures designed to enhance any home or garden.
“This is our 14th annual Y Bridge Arts Festival, and it means so much to us that you came to spend your time with us… thank you,” expressed Erin Cole, President of ArtCoz, during the heartfelt opening ceremony Friday evening. The warm welcome laid the groundwork for an engaging weekend, emphasizing the festival’s commitment to blending art with community spirit.

A Feast for the Senses
The festival not only catered to the artistic inclinations of attendees but also to their appetites. Food trucks lined the streets, serving a delectable selection of pizza, bourbon chicken, and Schmidt’s Sausage Haus’ renowned cream puffs, ensuring that nourishment was as abundant as inspiration. Attendees were treated to an extraordinary blend of flavors while they explored the artistic offerings around them, creating a truly immersive experience.
Entertainment that Captivates
Each day was filled with live performances that further elevated the festival atmosphere. Friday night was a festive occasion featuring talented acts such as Brian Smith, A2J Dance Co., and the Y-City Barbershop Chorus, which united attendees in celebration. Saturday’s lineup included performances from Marjorie’s School of Dance and local favorites like Mike Hawley and the 50 Years After Band, which continued to enliven the festival’s spirit.
A Legacy of Support
Among the highlights of the festival was the awarding of the $2,000 Art Within Us Linda Regula Legacy Scholarship to Breanna Cosgrove. A recent graduate of John Glenn High School, Cosgrove plans to pursue studies in architecture and music performance at Miami University. This scholarship is part of a collaborative effort between ArtCoz and the You Will Rise anti-bullying initiative, honoring the festival’s founder, Linda Regula.
Engaging the Younger Generation
The festival also placed a strong emphasis on engaging children in the arts. The Zanesville Museum of Art, in collaboration with Gail Glagola, organized a vibrant children’s art station. Kids had the opportunity to explore various culturally diverse art projects, from creating Mexican tin ornaments to designing Japanese koinobori kites. Such initiatives not only spark creativity but also foster appreciation for global cultures among the younger generations.
